Description

What: to those who love mountains, their wonder is beyond dispute. To those who do not, their pull is beyond reason. This groundbreaking and classic work is a gripping history of man’s irresistible, sometimes fatal attraction to big hills

How; Robert Macfarlane explores how mountains have come to hold us spellbound, drawing us up into the high places- sometimes at the cost of our lives….

Who; Who: Robert Macfarlane won the Guardian First Book Award, the Somerset Maugham Award, and the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award for his first book, Mountains of the Mind (2003). His second, The Wild Places (2007), was similarly celebrated, winning three prizes and being shortlisted for six more. Both books were adapted for television by the BBC. He is a Fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge.

Why: We have hand-picked a small but growing selection of books which we hope complement the fair trade products we stock. Inspiring, engaging, and educational, we hope that these books can help move forward the discussion and debate around creativity, social justice and sustainability.
