Why we love... Rapanui

We've been super fans of Rapanui for quite some time now. In a past life we organised the Observer Ethical Awards, and Rapanui were shortlisted as one of the best ethical fashion brands, for creating cool interpretations of climate change messages all carried out through a robust supply chain.

Rapanui is the brainchild of brothers Rob and Mart Drake-Knight who set the business up in a shed on the Isle of Wight. Their surfer sensibilities show through in the T-shirt fit and designs - and they create cool, iconic imagery such as our bestselling Thunder and Save our Seas tees.

Sustainability is at the heart of the brand. The organic cotton T-shirts are made in a wind-powered factory in India, which is accredited through the Fair Wear Foundation. This means that all those involved in producing the garments are paid a fair wage and treated ethically. The tees are then printed in a factory on the Isle of Wight, which provides vocational training for young people. Rapanui have won a social impact award for this work.
