Origami - paper and fair trade ceramic folded designs

We had a group of visitors from Japan in the shop this week, and one of the ladies was very taken with our display of origami cranes. These are made in Thailand and are a traditional symbol of good luck. They look like this:

Quick as a flash the lady began furiously folding a piece of paper she found in her handbag. In under a minute she had produced a replica of our ceramic bird using actual origami! It was incredible to see how skilfully she folded the paper without using any cutting or tearing. Here she is with the finished article...

As well as the birds we also love these folded vases, which are also inspired by origami designs.
